From Harry Potter to Twilight to Spider-Man?

Blogs around the net are burning up about SONY’s recent decision to pull the pin on Spider-Man 4 and reboot the franchise by focussing on a script based around Peter Parker still being in school, and all the angst and stuff that goes with that. Personally, I think this idea sucks, and there are maybe 100,000 ways they can stuff it up with only about 1 way to get it right, MAKE SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT SPIDEY!

Initial word was that Edward Cullen himself, Robert Pattinson, was head and shoulders above others for the role. I cold not think of someone worse for the role than Pattinson. I don’t have anything against the guy personally, I just don’t think he can act, and if this film is meant to be the emotionally angst ridden film hat SONY seem dead keen on making, then you need someone with a little more depth the shallow performances we saw from his work in Twilight and New Moon.

My question is what the hell happened to Spidey 4? It seems it was only last week we were talking about John Malkovich being considered for the role of Vulture and I know the SONY guys were never keen on him as a villain as he was a lower tier characer, so here’s an idea, why the hell did we force 3 bad guys into the last film? Spidey 3 would have been a much better film if we concentrated on Flint Marko/Sandman, had the whole emo black suited spidey thing happening then have Venom enter at the end leading into Spidey 4. In the background to all this, you have Jnr Green Goblin. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I think Spidey franchise is going the way of 90’s Batman films……..

Hmmm, a name like ''Vampire Girl'' doesn''t do your argument any favours...I''m pretty sure this news was confirmed to be a rumour and nothing more than that - latest news according to Deadline Hollywood is Sony wants to invest only $80 million into this new Spider-man project - going with relatively ''unknowns'' for all the major roles and making the film focus more on the ''angst'' of Peter being in high school, dealing with the fact he has super powers and failed to stop his uncle''s killer. Sounds like another ''emo'' Spider-man is coming our way... heaven forbid!

I don''t like the idea of Spidey starting over again. It ain''t that old like the Star Trek franchise. If they must, get a new actor to play Peter/Spidey but just start from where number 3 left off.

Look Will, While you may not think Pattinson had much acting chops in New Moon or Twilight, hold off the assumption that he can''t act until you''ve seen him in something else...like Remember Me.
