Ben
Ben-Rutherford has previously worked at 2 of the big 4 record companies in the music industry and has now landed on his feet in Movie-land, working in the marketing department at Greater Union. With a fascination and passion for the entertainment industry plus experience living in the US for 3 years with his family as a teenager, Ben likes to think he brings a worldly view to the table but hey, who is he kidding.

Claire
Claire Gandy has absolutely nothing except a love for film that qualifies her to write anything worth reading, and that she is unbelievably honest and will give anything a chance. A huge supporter of the local film and arts industry, and has a genuine passion for it, being at several times, in front, behind and next to the camera too. She likes Pina Colada’s and long walks in the rain. We can’t back that up.

Will
Will Conway has had an undeniable love for film ever since his directorial debut at the age of 12 bringing the classic Steinbeck novel ‘The Pearl’ to the year seven class room. Will has worked for a number of years within the industry in roles as varied as cinema usher to regional marketing and back, currently in a position within the GU film department. Will loves all things ‘not cool’ including spending way too much time on the Xbox, comic book films and any form of Star Wars merchandise.

BLINDSIDED! A MUST SEE TRUE STORY
2 Comments | Posted on Friday, 5 February 2010 by Claire

BLINDSIDED! A MUST SEE TRUE STORY I think everyone was shocked to find Blindside opened in the number one spot in the U.S when it came out there. I thought this film was going to heavy on the American football. It’s not. I also thought it may be depressing. It’s not that either. I really, really enjoyed this film.
Based on the book written by Michael Lewis, this is the true story of Michael Oher, a poor, oversized and under-educated black teenager, who is taken in by an affluent white family, the Touey’s. Sandra Bullock plays Leigh-Anne Touey, who see’s Michael’s potential, and also his tenderness.
Michael faces new challenges when he starts school, and comes up against a tough school board and faces learning difficulty. Even in sport, where they assume he will flourish, he struggles. But Leigh Anne’s persistent belief in Michael, as an intelligent and sensitive person slowly gives Michael a reason to try anything, and be good at it.
It soon becomes clear Michael has star football potential and they begin to groom him into an athletically and academically successful NFL prospect.
This is a feel good film, you’ll leave the cinema smiling, I did. Sandra Bullock does give an excellent performance, and the supporting cast is just as good.
Stick around for the credits; you get to see some footage of the real family!
Definitely worth a watch
