I am a huge Sean Penn fan so I am always keen to see his next new movie, and Milk was no exception. I vaguely knew what the story was about but had no idea of the details of the 'based on a true story' events. Upfront you know how the film will end, and as events play out, you really get a sense of what an amazingly driven person Harvey Milk was. Kevin James once again reigned supreme is at the US box office in Paul Blart: Mall Cop, with an impressive $21.6 million weekend, taking it’s cume to $64.9 million, putting it on top for the second week running. Coming in second was Underworld 3 with $20.8 million which was a reasonable result considering the primary star for the franchise, Kate Beckinsale, is not present in this incarnation. After 8 weeks in release, Baz Luhrmann's epic film, Australia has become the third biggest Australian film of all time with the film taking $32.87 million at the box office. Australia becomes Baz's biggest Aussie film

Baz Luhrmann has done it - he has eclipsed Moulin Rouge to ensure his latest offering Australia becomes his biggest movie yet. Thanks to the heavy traffic throughout the holiday period, Australia went past Moulin Rouge's Australian box office record of $27.7 million to become the most successful film of all time in his home country. Slumdog is a gem

I saw Slumdog Millionaire recently and after seeing all of the hype and rave reviews wasn't sure what to expect. Most of the time you hear all of these things and then watch the film and think otherwise but with Danny Boyle's latest, you're not left disappointed. I found the film to be a fascinating insight into another world - a world I'd never really seen or heard that much about. Jim Carrey has sprinted to the top of the Aussie box office mountain just like he did a few weeks ago in the U.S. It seems the large crowds flowing into the cinemas were after a laugh and that's what they've got in Yes Man with Carrey back doing what he does best - making people laugh. Nothing changes at the U.S box office

The top five films of last weekend finished in exactly the same spot over the weekend at the U.S box office with Owen Wilson/Jennifer Aniston's dog drama Marley & Me holding onto the top spot with an estimated $24.1 million to smash through the $100 million mark. Bedtime Stories took an estimated $20.3 million to maintain second spot while Brad Pitt's The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button took $18.4 million and held onto third spot. Mr Bond himself returns this weekend with the release of his latest offering Defiance, also featuring Live Schreiber. The story follows 3 Jewish brothers escape from Nazi-occupied Poland into the Belarussian forest, where they join Russian resistance fighters and endeavour to build a village in order to protect themselves and others in danger.
