The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman will produce the 82nd Academy Awards. MTV Movie news has reported the next Star Wars film will be shot in 3D. What the? Couples Retreat steals back top spot

Couples Retreat has stolen back the top spot at the Aussie box office with the film taking $1.29 million over the weekend. Mao's Last Dancer took $1.17 million to secure second spot while Final Destination 3D landed in third spot with $1.05 million. 3D films continue to perform well - think Ice Age 3D, G-Force and Up 3D - and things will only ramp up further here. The low budget ghost scarefest, Paranormal Activity, is the number one film in the U.S following a weekend where the film collected $22 million and in the process ensured the worst debut ever in the hugely successful Saw franchise. Michael Bay himself has confirmed the release date for Transformers 3 will be July 1 2011. Mao's Last Dancer debuted in top spot at the Australian box office with an estmated $3.3 million, making it the biggest Australian film opening for 2009 and the 5th biggest Australian film opening ever, grossing $514,458 on Thursday. Sony Pictures led the way at the U.S box office with Zombieland debuting in top spot with an impressive $24.7 million. Falling to second spot was Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs which took an estimated $15.8 million, pushing the film's overall gross thus far to $81.5 million after just 17 days.
