My top 10 of 2008 include: 1) The Dark Knight – goes into my all time favourites, loved every minute of it 2) Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa – put your hands in the air, it’s much more fun, as the animals’ crash to earth. Fun movie with plenty of laughs 3) Iron Man – Robert Downey Jr. is back – looking forward to the sequel 4) Get Smart – Steve Carell is the man, this role was made for him and I was laughing out loud constantly – love a good laugh and thi... 1.The Dark Knight – It’s rare that a film exceeds all expectations, particularly when they are HUGE, and this film did exactly that. Well written, expertly shot and brilliantly cast, this is without equal my favourite film of this year. 2.Slumdog Millionaire – I love it when a film comes from left of centre and really demands attention. Slumdog was at heart a pretty simple story, yet you can’t help but want the protagonist to win in the end. Written with a lot of heart and brilliantly... Find out more... | 0 Comments |

It’s just been announced that Catherine Hardwicke will not be directing New Moon the next instalment in the famed Twilight series. This comes just as she and the cast embark on the press junket in Europe. Quite shocking really considering the film has grossed over $160 million so far in the US and is likely to be just as successful around the world. Summit said that Hardwick was “irrational” and “difficult” during the filming of Twilight. Even more scandalous will be if Summit Entertainment anno...Find out more... | 0 Comments |

Those all dancing, singing stars are back with the release of High School Musical 3: Senior Year. After the film's Australian premiere in Sydney a few weeks back, it's now showing and from all accounts is a winner. With school kids due to break up soon for the long awaited summer holidays (remember how good it was to have weeks of not having to worry about a single thing - ah that was the life!), High School Musical 3 will draw the fans in for another episode of this mega-successful D... DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg is sure the next big change in the movie industry is going to be 3D. After going from silent to sound and then from black and white to colour, he strongly believes 3D will be the next revolution in Tinseltown. After watching Bolt 3D, he does have a point but will cinema goers want to see EVERY film released in 3D? Katzenberg firmly believes so. With Bolt 3D and Monsters Vs Aliens 3D on the horizon, time will tell whether 3D will be a success. |

They're back!!! Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria return as Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is released in cinemas December 11 (QLD/NT/SA) or December 19 (NSW/WA/VIC/ACT). The second instalment sees the action take place in Africa where all 4 characters go through a personality crisis but the stand-out character for me is King Julien (Sacha Baron-Cohen). The man is a genius and again the one liners (unusually clean) are spot on, I found myself laughing out loud, especially the scene where th... Find out more... | 0 Comments |

If you've heard much about Four Holidays, there was word there may have been tension between stars Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn. According to Witherspoon herself though, there was nothing of the sort. Talking to ArtistDirect, she had this to say: "Vince and I got along great. We're very good friends, and we were very much partners on this movie. We decided to produce it together. We worked on the script together. We worked on it for four months for five or six hours a day before... Find out more... | 0 Comments |

I'm a huge fan of Jim Carrey, he's a very funny guy and the hilarious faces and maniac characters he has the ability to get himself into, make him one of my favourites when it comes to comedy. Think Dumb & Dumber, Ace Ventura + Me, Myself & Irene. In his latest film, Yes Man, released in cinemas January 1st, 2009, Carrey plays Carl Allen who signs himself up for a self-help program where the key objective is becoming a "yes" person, saying yes to literally everything. I have just seen 4 scenes from the new JJ Abrams Star Trek film. WOW. Fans will not be disappointed. Can I say it has (so far) everything you come to expect, action, humour, a kick ass crew, the freakin’ Enterprise and Leonard Nimoy! I mean, c’mon. The effects look out standing. I would say it looks more like an action film set in space, and is perfectly cast, with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, John Cho, and of course Eric Bana as the bad guy! It would seem JJ is keeping the plot line a littl... Find out more... | 0 Comments |

Bedtime Stories sees Adam Sandler as Skeeter Bronson, a hotel handyman telling magical stories to both his niece and nephew before they go to sleep. Unfortunately whatever they dream up, comes to life and Sandler is forced to survive. Adding a dash of his own thoughts to these doesn't seem to help as the unexpected possibilities the kids create throw his life into chaos. In his first Disney movie, Sandler stars alongside Keri Russell, Courteney Cox, our very own Guy Pearce and Russel... Find out more... | 0 Comments |

We've been given a sneak peak at Star Trek this morning and it looks sensational. Director J.J. The crew includes Chris Pine as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Anton Yelchin as Chekov, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy, John Cho as Sulu and Zoe Saldana as Uhura. What are the best films to watch to get into the festive spirit? I always find at this time of year it's fun to watch a few Christmas movies to really get into the swing of things. This year my girlfriend and I have decided to watch 12 to go along with the 12 days of Christmas theme but had a hard time putting together the list. There are obviously plenty to choose from but it was a matter of quality over quantity. We went with Elf, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (I'm a sucker ... Find out more... | 0 Comments |

Having not seen a huge amount of Danny Boyle's work, I wasn't sure I was going to get into Slumdog Millionaire. I must admit though that the raw intensity he is able to create on screen really drew me in. In the days of being served up the same thing a hundred different ways, this really is something unique. It has a bit of everything from comedy to romance and drama - it all works in delivering the story of Jamal who becomes a contestant on the Hindi version of Who Wants to Be A Mil... With the release of Baz Luhrmann's epic Australia, I thought it was time to recap and see what people thought of the big budget film starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. Here we go: "Australia tries to be a sprawling, romantic epic. Instead, it's a melodramatic exercise in tedium" - Claudia Puig (USA Today) "What a gorgeous film, what strong performances, what exhilarating images and - yes, what sweeping romantic melodrama" - Roger Ebert (Chicago Sun-Times) T...
