Who watches the Watchmen?
0 Comments | Posted on Friday, 27 February 2009 by Al

Who watches the Watchmen? I should preface this review by stating that I am a great admirer of the original source material for this film. Watchmen the comic book helped to redefine the genre, grounding it's characters in a dark dystopian world and the heroes are a product of that world.

Writer Alan Moore had dismissed the very idea of filming the comic book, saying it was essentially unfilmable. Director Zack Snyder certainly had his work cut out for him. Snyder is extremely sympathetic to the tone and pacin...

So did you have any exposure to the material (Graphic Novel) before you went into shooting? “Well, before I went into the project I had not read the novel first (some major demolition starts up in background), wow it got real noisy in here!

As the construction work next to us threatens to unravel the entire interview, Malin leans seductively towards the Dictaphone and says “Maybe if I speak like this, is that better?” and no sooner have I replied “Hell yes!...

Oscars - what's next? Well another Oscars ceremony has come and gone with the 81st Annual Academy Awards, hosted by Hugh Jackman, over for another year. Jackman received mixed reviews from critics worldwide but I thought he brought something completely different to the show and once again proved he is the ultimate entertainment all-rounder.

Feel free to disagree with me here but I think the award nominations need a shake up. There are 5 nominees for Best Picture yet the biggest films of 2008 like The Dark ...

On Geeks, comic books and that costume - Spending time with Malin Akerman Part 1. INT. INTERCONTINENTAL HOTEL - DAY
MALIN is sitting in a café booth, quietly discussing something with her stylist as the latter applies make up to the star. WILL enters the room.

As I took my seat next to the Hollywood star I got an overall sense that perhaps she was not like the clichéd Hollywood types and that I may even escape this interview without being asked to put my manners back in. I break the ice by making a lame joke about the intimacy of the location and the fact that...

Iron Man 2 – Emily Blunt? Comingsoon.net and Variety is reporting a rumour doing the rounds that The Devil Wears Prada star Emily Blunt will play Natasha Romanoff, a Soviet spy with some interesting weaponry incorporated into her clothing, in Iron Man 2.

If she decides to join Mickey Rourke as one of the villain’s, it’d be a step outside the box after appearances in The Jane Austen Book Club and Charlie Wilson’s War.

What do you think?

CHANGELING SHOCKINGLY TRUE

CHANGELING SHOCKINGLY TRUE It has to be said that Clint Eastwood never fails to deliver when it comes to his directing prowess. I mean how good was Mystic River, right? This is true of Changeling as well, although I do have a hard time watching Angelina Jolie, and she does look particularly thin in this film, even before her character loses her son, so we can’t put it down to performance weight loss of a frantic mother….I digress, this film is long, I did go in to the screening thinking, far out another long film, but I w...

The greatest story of MALL-time! Kevin James, star of King of Queens, is Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Paul is a simple man, a single father living with his daughter and Mother; he patrols the local shopping mall and takes his job of security and safety for all very seriously. His life seems boring and although he longs for a girlfriend, the opportunity has never presented itself. That is, until one night when a band of thugs decide to take control of the mall and only Blart stands between them and their devilish plans…….

A pinch of Pride and a Touch of Glory
0 Comments | Posted on Wednesday, 4 February 2009 by Will

A pinch of Pride and a Touch of Glory Released way back in mid 2008 in the US we are finally getting the chance to have a look ourselves at ‘Pride and Glory’ this week. Starring Edward Norton, Colin Farrell and Jon Voight, it’s a star studded cast supporting this urban police drama.

The story is reasonably simple, the film starts with four cops getting gunned down in an apartment and Edward Norton’s character is pulled out of self imposed exile to lead the task force into solving the case. Guided by his father (Voight) wh...

Lord of the Rings Prequels on their way?
0 Comments | Posted on Tuesday, 3 February 2009 by Ben

Lord of the Rings Prequels on their way? MTV News is reporting that Dominic Monaghan is planning to return for the Lord of The Rings prequels. “They really want us to come back, and I think there’s a really strong chance that we might be back”, he told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival.

I’m sure fans would be divided about this after mixed feelings were shown for the return of the Indiana Jones franchise last year as well as Star Wars a few years ago. Coupled to this, is the rumour that the Hobbit is in fact going to be...

Box Office Results
0 Comments | Posted on Monday, 2 February 2009 by Will

Liam Neeson’s TAKEN opened to number one spot in the US over the weekend with just shy of $25 million. Aussie audiences were lucky enough to see this film in our theatres last August (a rare spoil) and it went on to take $7.1 million here so estimates are rising for its potential in the US. Kevin James’s Paul Blart: Mall Cop took another $14 million taking its total $83 million so far, a huge success for the Sony film. I was luck enough to see this film last week and it is a riot, fans of Kevin ...

Superbowl Spots
0 Comments | Posted on Monday, 2 February 2009 by Will

Superbowl Spots The superbowl is perhaps more famous for its advertsising than the actual game and this year, audiences were able to catch a glimpse of trailers for Transformers 2, Star Treak and Angels and Demons amongst others, apparently the Steelers won the game also......

I thought I'd show a few of my favourites below, let us know what you think.

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen
